In the midst of preparing my project presentation for Friday, I have found myself flipping through a very interesting book. Its called 500 Tips for Students by Phil Race.
The book contains helpful sections on all aspects of study, with information on everything from starting your course, time and task management, using lectures, group work, different learning styles, assessments, practical exams, course work and many more.
Under each section heading it gives a series of points and guidance to do with each heading, for example:
Time -Management:
- Work out the benefits to you of good time-management
- Think in terms off 'Learning Payoff' when allocating time
- Stop and reflect on what you have just learned
- Don't waste time thinking about starting work
- Use the first 10% of the available time
- Set your own deadlines
- Use the first half-hour to do something non-urgent
- Use the 'little bits' of time
- Tell other people about your tie management
- Get ahead of schedule
All these points are elaborated on throughout the chapter in a really clear way, so if you a struggling with a certain topic such as time management its very easy to find it and read up on it. Really good read for those who need a little boost or maybe have been out of education for a while.
